Welcome

Who is protecting your pension benefits?

San Diego's "Division 45" members are socially and politically active on behalf of all teachers.  Committee chairs are working hard to enhance and protect your benefits. If you know any current or retired teachers encourage them to join CRTA.  CRTA can help you retain the "Gold" in the Golden Years.

Grants/Scholarships

Anyone interested in CRTA Merchandise, such as jackets, denim shirts, sweatshirts, with CRTA logo, appreciation items for volunteers,, CRTA gifts for presenters or scholarship recipients, etc. Please contact Dr. Angela Aschbrenner at 858-259-6854 or DRAASCH4@aol.com

Division 45 awards scholarships of $1000 each to high school seniors who are pursuing teaching careers. The scholarship winners are honored in May.  The scholarship fund also provides mini-grants for current teachers.

Community Service

Members are encouraged to keep a record of volunteer hours. The deadline for submitting the record to our "Division 45" is March 1, 2009.  These retired teacher  "service" hours add-up to millions of dollars saved statewide for our school districts and at community events.

See Division 45 President --
Kathy O'Leary Message on Membership and Service

Division 45 represents an important part of California, in the north coastal area of San Diego County.  Many members who have retired in this region of the state continue to keep a close eye on legislative activities that could have a major impact on current and future retired teachers.

Our members are also very involved in community service. In the most recent reporting cycle, members donated over 46,000 hours of their time in volunteer activities, worth several thousand dollars saved by local, and state government.

We act as a resource for new teachers, offering many skills and services that they can request.

We are in a consortium with Division 63 & Division 81 to present scholarships to north county colleges, students pursuing careers in education.

We are proud of the members of our division, with good reason.

If you are interested in joining CalRTA and live within the Division 45 region, please be sure to attend a luncheon in our local division.   We meet the 4th Monday of each month at the St. Michael's Church in Oceanside, at 11:00 a.m.  It will be a great opportunity to renew acquaintances and  make new ones.
